Weekly Wrap Up: The Final Week of April 2020

It feels surreal that another week has passed us by–April is coming to an end and we will soon be well done with the first four months of this year. This is a hard pill to swallow, but I am glad that I’ve managed to slowly get back into some kind of routine for myself this week. Here’s a quick wrap of my week.

First of all, Ramadan Mubarak to everyone celebrating! May this month teach us to be kinder and more compassionate with each other, to have more patience and most importantly, learn restraint.

Most of you have probably heard of the Ramadan Readathon being hosted by Nadia at Headscarves and Hardbacks. It’s a month along readathon that is hosted every Ramadan, where we all get together to read more books by Muslim authors from around the world and help promote their books.

This is such a brilliant initiative by Nadia, and while I do have a long list of books by Muslim authors that I would love to review and share on my blog, I doubt I’ll be able to squeeze more than one or two books this month. I’ll be working full time this Ramadan and I also have some personal goals that I want to focus on achieving before the month is over, so those are my top priorities.

Nadia’s blog is absolutely stunning and she writes incredibly thoughtful posts about diverse books and more. If you are reading this, you should definitely check out her blog and give her a follow!

Speaking of talented bloggers, this week I discovered a few blog posts that I absolutely loved.

Trix from Much Ado About Nothing answers a question all Little Women fans have probably asked before: Why Did Jo Say No? If you’ve read the classic story of the March sisters, then you will love this post. Trix’s entire site is dedicated to all things Little Women, so if you are a fan, you should definitely check it out.

Jayvel from An Introverted World shares his wonderfully written review on It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover. This is a book that I personally loved, and Jayvel’s spoiler-free review perfectly sums it up!

Elysia from Light of The Bookworm shares a really interesting post: How Many Books Make A Book Blogger? I’d definitely recommend reading it–it’s so relatable, and I am sure a lot of new book bloggers are having similar experiences.

I’ve finally finished reading The Heart Forger by Rin Chupeco! This is the sequel to Rin Chupeco’s The Bone Witch, which is a phenomenal YA fantasy featuring diverse characters, a ruthless anti-heroine, and a whole new world of magic, murder and intrigue. I’ll be posting the review soon here on my blog, so stay tuned. In the meantime, feel free to read my review of The Bone Witch.

I’ve also received 3 ARCs which I’ll try to finish by the end of the coming week. As soon as I am done with them, I plan on starting The Shadowglass–the third and final book of Rin Chupeco’s The Bone Witch trilogy.

Aside from reading and blogging I’ve been trying out different things that I might enjoy. I recently fell in love with hand lettering and discovered the beauty of mixed media art, so I’ve been dabbling my fingers there too. I am absolutely no good at either of those things, but I am determined to get better at it by the end of this month.

And that’s a wrap! Feel free to share what you’ve been up to, or any post you want me to check out in the comments below. Here’s to hoping that this coming week brings wonderful things for you too ❤
